Aashumi chemicals has developed its own technology and machinery to manufacture briquettes of ferrous and non-ferrous metal scrap, such as turnings, borings, clippings, trimmings, punchings, and other small waste. The metal in pressed briquette form, gives a density of the material nearly equivalent to the natural metal in ingot or solid form. As a result of this, the material is easy for handling and the losses on melting are greatly reduced for all types of small / thin particles of scrap & waste.
Another important factor to be noted is that, as a result of the compaction at extreme high force, the material gets sintered into a solid block, whereby ejecting out any air gap or other impurities like oil, water, coolant etc, this also increases the compactness of the material and the conductivity increases greatly due to this compactness. This leads to lower energy costs as the metal will pick up the heat faster than finely divided material or thin material, also it allows for the material to be stacked up on the rim of the furnace, so that the material can be put in after some time, in this hold period the material already acquires nearly 80% of the temperature that would be required for effective melting of the material.
Further due to the compact nature of the briquette easily oxidised metals do not have exposed surface area to allow for oxidation at high temperatures or on shelf life as the surface area to weight is greatly reduced due to the compaction, as a result of this low ratio of surface area / weight there is very little oxidation hence the slag generated on melting is also lower. The net result is that the metal recovery goes up and more metal is recovered into ingot / product form.
Now considering logistics, the briquettes provide better handling while in furnace application or in transit mode, easier to weigh, lift, load, unload, charge & stack the material in briquette form.
